At the Kankaan sauna you can experience two different saunas that are both heated with Finnish Narvi electric heaters. The bigger sauna can fit up to 15 people and offers a softer steam, whereas  the smaller sauna (known as the vastasauna) fits 5 people and offers an experience for the lovers of a harder steam. After enjoying a relaxing steam, you can cool off on the outdoor terrace, which can be accessed from the sauna department.

Sauna shifts:

Womens shift on wednesdays

Mens shift on thursdays

Mixed-gender sauna shift on fridays and saturdays

During the mixed saunas, the dressing room space will be divided in two with curtains. The saunas and the shower space are shared, and on mixed sauna nights the use of swimwear is mandatory in all areas of the sauna department.

Please take a shower before going to the saunas and the Avant°pool. For hygiene reasons, seat covers must be used in saunas. Please note that it is forbidden to bring your own drinks and food into the Kankaan sauna.

Vastasauna

The smaller of the saunas is called a vastasauna. The word vasta means a kind of a whip or bouquet made of birch branches and it is traditionally used to gently beat oneself in sauna. The goal is to enhance the relaxing effect of the steam on the skin and muscles and it should not hurt! The vastasauna seats 5 people and there you can try using a vasta yourself, just remember to buy your own vasta from the reception.

We will also host themed saunas, where you can experience various sauna treatments. Sauna yoga and peat saunas are also organized on the benches of the bigger sauna. Follow us on Facebook for more information!

ICE HOLE

Us Finns know the numerous health benefits of sauna and going to the sauna is a part of our cultural heritage. In addition to heat, cold is also known to be good for you. Throughout times we have taken dips in ice holes or rolled in snow during the sauna.

Kankaan sauna can offer its customers the ice hole dipping experience all year long in the form of a Finnish innovation Avant°pool. The pool is designed for cold recovery as well as promoting natural well-being and is used even by Olympic-level athletes.

You can test Avant°pool during sauna shifts. Please take a shower before going to the Avant°pool.
